Call for Articles: History and Games
Call for Articles: History and Games
“For this series, we’re looking for articles that explore the interaction between history, games, and play. Possible topics include but are not limited to: the representation of historical periods, movements, and events within a game; how games can present alternative histories; the emerging history of games; the role of games in history education. We’re looking for original takes on the subject the further our understanding of both the games and the historical topic in question. Submissions about non-videogames (boardgames, pen-and-paper games, folk games) are very welcome!
If you wonder whether a particular subject would be suitable before pitching, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
As always, we welcome articles from writers of all backgrounds and perspectives, and we encourage everyone who might be interested to write to us.
We’ll be accepting pitches throughout October and early November, but the sooner we get yours, the better! Please submit your pitch (ca. 250 words) to editor@ontologicalgeek.com, and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
We’re aiming for articles roughly between 1,000 and 2,000 words, and if you have a references section, please be as complete and consistent as possible in listing those sources.
Please send us your pitches by November 6th at the latest.
All pitches will be reviewed anonymously by our editing team for this series.”
